About
Kris is widely regarded by those in the know as a leading personal trainer and group exercise coach. With over 17,000 coaching hours under his belt, Kris has successfully delivered results and changed the lives of hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of people. With a wealth of coaching knowledge, a BSc (Hons) in sports psychology and coaching sciences, and a successful professional kickboxing career, Kris is perfectly placed to help you overcome any fitness challenge. With a diverse range of coaching and technical skills to call upon, Kris has the ability to think laterally and apply intelligent strategies that solve fitness problems. Kris has worked with elite sports people, an England footballer, and 2 world champions. He has worked with lead actors on movie sets and has helped make people from every walk of life attain a body they are proud of. Personal training with Kris does not come cheap but does offer a level of service and expertise that few others can match.
Early on in his career it was obvious that Kris possessed a special talent when he won the acclaimed ‘Fitness Masters’ trophy and was crowned Fitness Industry Association instructor of the Year – way back in 2002.
Kris is proud to have earned his stripes, spending 5 years on the gym floor at Fitness First, and was a popular key player in an award-winning team. Kris went on to develop Kris Cann Personal training as an independent business and in 2015 added the UCann Fitness brand to his belt. UCann brings Kris’s unique coaching style to a wider audience by embracing group fitness classes, including boxing, kickboxing, executive fitness/strength and high intensity interval training classes. The UCann classes make training with Kris affordable for all budgets whilst still delivering a high quality exercise experience.
As well as coaching, Kris was asked to write a complete home fitness series for the award-winning Bournemouth Daily Echo – and his video series can be seen in the news section of this site.
Helping others has always been high on Kris’s list of priorities and he has been working with a highly acclaimed research team at Southampton University Hospital using exercise to improve outcomes for patients post surgery. He is proud to be part of this pioneering research team and is certain that in years to come exercise, lifestyle and nutrition will play a pivotal role in prevention and management of disease and chronic illness. As part of this research, Kris has been featured in the national press including the Daily Mail, and is often called upon for expert opinions by a range of media sources including The Fire FM.
Since retiring from professional kickboxing in 2009, Kris has become an accomplished skier in the winter, still laces up his boxing gloves to hit pads from time to time, loves taking part in his local 5km Parkrun and is planning to take up the kite-surfing in the summer. Soon to be the proud father of twins, Kris is ambitiously hoping that he can take part in his first cross country ski marathon event in March of 2016, as one of Kris’s favourite sayings goes ‘you must do what you Cann, when you Cann’.
