About
My career in the health and fitness industry began over 10 years ago working in my local gym as a fitness instructor. I soon developed a keen interest in rehabilitation and took on additional training to become a GP exercise referral instructor. This role provided me with an abundance of experience whilst rehabilitating clients from illnesses and injury, but I wanted to become more specialized. I felt that I needed to spend time with clients at an earlier stage in their recovery so began working with NHS Physiotherapists on a voluntary basis. To my surprise I was instantly drawn in and found myself extremely interested in neurological conditions, particularly stroke. In 2011 I finally made the move into NHS services and now work as an associate practitioner in a community stroke rehabilitation team. My experience and knowledge of stroke recovery continues and I am now a specialist instructor with ARNI (Action for Rehabilitation from Neurological Injury). My time is now split between my NHS role and training stroke survivors privately on a 1 to 1 basis via the ARNI approach.
